Lucille

I am planning to start a series of Blues in here. Once in a while. Look for the tag Blues.

To start with, hear the words of Lucille. If you have not heard this before, kick back, close your eyes, and put this on. Loud.

Much too often, the entire Blues genre remains fleeting away because we never quite get to that level to appreciate it. It is a very rich sound, a very emotionally tinged sound. The attitude is sharper than the voice or the clothes. The shine is in the beauty of the pain. And we, dumb and middle class, never are able to get it.

In Lucille, and it is not his best song, we are blessed to have King’s voice guide us to the undulations of his guitar. Step by breathtaking step.

Sometimes I think she’s cryin’
